Mural Painting Party – TUESDAY, October 28, 2014
1October 17, 2014 by DuboisOnMain
Plans are being made to set up mural painting parties at various times and places in Mount Hope. This mural, depicting DuBois High and coal mining history was funded through a grant from the National Coal Heritage Area Authority and is under the direct supervision of board member, Adam Hodges. This project will be completed by volunteers and, as such, will take a while to finish.
As Adam stated at the grant’s receipt, “I hope everyone understands the deep personal and professional commitment I am making to complete this project. I have understood from the first discussion that the majority of the burden for completion of this project rests squarely on my shoulders, as a representative of the NRGRDA and an artist. I am happy to give that effort because DuBois on Main and Mount Hope are more than deserving of it. I am simply stating that the process will require patience and trust from all parties to complete successfully, not to mention the significant effort on the part of our volunteers as well.I am excited to begin this journey with you”…
The ladies from the 116 Main Book Club are excited also and will be the first to host a DuBois Mural painting party on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 PM at the museum. Public is invited to attend and participate. Artist, Adam Hodges, will direct this work and volunteer “artists” will be listed upon completion of the project.
Watch for future painting party dates being planned by Adam and newly elected board member, Sandy McIntire. Contact us at 304-578-7707 for further information.
I am being asked about the mural, trying to spread the word. Thank the Creator and don’t forget to smile and laugh a lot!. Jean Evansmore
