Changes in the community are requiring our attention and time. This is all part of the responsibility each one of us has because we live here. Things that are happening now are the very things someone will be doing research on in the future trying to get a “picture” of what it was like. Hopefully, there are a number of people out there who are saving the newspapers and whatever documentation available for those future generations.
Not saying it’s easy. But, think of the delight of those interested in learning the history when they come upon something you saved…and they try to put it all together to get a sense of what we are experiencing now.
Here, at DuBois on Main, we have a display that includes documentation that is over 100 years old. Mrs. Bowles, a former elementary teacher, mother and church officer saved so many documents that two walls display items donated to me in a black plastic bag some years ago. It is fascinating….
