February 1, MON. – 5:30 Wii Bowling. Good exercise and socializing. Light snacks.

JUNE Men Read program gets kicked off on June 25 at the WV Storm’s football game. Men from the community and surrounding areas will read to the young kids weekly from the benches on North Main Street from books chosen from the public library. Books, Activity Packs and snacks will be available free to the kids. This is a collaboration among DuBois on Main, MIHOW and WV Storm.

AUG 29 – SPECIAL COMMUNITY MEETING – STEWART PAYNE leads. Title “Why Government Fails Us”…. This will be a provocative and educational event. Come out and learn.
SEPTEMBER 2-4 Fri-Sun. DuBois High 21st. Reunion
Friday evening: “Meet and greet” all your friends. An array of food and drinks will be available along with music and other entertainment.
Saturday: Reunion attendees will have opportunity to visit Exhibition Coal Mine in Beckley and visit DuBois on Main for the ribbon-cutting ceremony honoring the DuBois High Mural. The ever-popular bingo will be held at the hotel.
Activities will continue with dinner and entertainment Saturday evening. Holiday Lodge in Oak Hill is reunion headquarters.
Sunday morning will start with church services at 10 AM. United Missionary Baptist Church will do the service. Later in the day, an indoor picnic meal will be served.
Attendees will have opportunities to gather, share stories and make plans for future visits.
September 30: We will attend the unveiling of the bust of Major General Charles Rogers, 1947 DuBois graduate at WV State University at 9AM. Major General Rogers is the recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor. He stands as the highest ranking African American to receive this award. It is believed he will always have this honor as wars are fought differently now than they were during Vietnam. This is very exciting to the director who plans to be there!
