Happy New Year everyone.

Although we are officially closed until mid February, so much has been happening that I thought you should be updated.

Memberships and donations came in very well over the holidays.  We are so appreciative of the continued interest and support offered by so many. We thank you.

Here is what else is happening:

The AmeriCorps Vista group at NPS has expressed interest in doing a community service project at the museum on Jan. 18, MLK Day.  So we are planning to paint the community room!   The local Lowe’s has been asked for a donation of paint and we are hopeful that will happen.  This will be a big job, one that will result in gleaming walls and a new room arrangement.  If you’re in the area, come on by and lend a hand.  We need to start dismantling wall displays this week.  Yes, I am serious about this request and I thank you in advance.  Call me-304-578-7707 to arrange visit.

On Friday, January 29, 2016, we will participate in the 20th Annual West Virginia History day at the Legislature which is to recognize the state’s rich and varied history.  This will be our first time and we are excited.

Then, for fun and great exercise, we will start doing  Wii Bowling on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016 at 5:30 pm.  Stop by and join in.  Good fun and opportunity to meet others.   Board member, Jim Withim, is allowing us to use his Wii game.

Next event on the calendar, is a field day trip for students from Mount View Christian School on February 26, 2016.   We are happy students are interested in this local history and appreciate the Ansted Elementary students who expressed interest in January of last year and came to the museum to do research because it was not part of their education.  After that we hosted many Ansted Middle school students.

Interested in a tour?  Contact us.  We can work it out.
